Bible truth is the gold standard of truth, the measure against which all other truth should be tested. Before we can do this, we first have to know what it says. You cannot know it if you do not read it and you cannot fully know God if you do not know His Word. How can one question the reliability of the Bible without knowing.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14
God is the Author of truth, He invented it and He loves it, and He gave it to us so that we might know Him and follow Him. Bible truth should be the center of a Christian’s life and the outline of a successful relationship with the Lord. Jesus said, “if you love me you will do the things I say” (John 14:15). And since we know that the God-head symbolizes both God and Jesus, along with the Holy Spirit, whatever is spoken by one, is spoken by all and to be obeyed no matter the title we give the speaker. So Jesus saying we should do what He says is God also saying we should do what He says.
Bible truth is far from what many unbelievers and believers alike think. Bible truth can be harsh for those who do not follow God and, moreover, do what is in opposition to what God commands, but for the most part, Bible truth is a pattern for our lives that teaches how to have more peace, love and contentment through the truth found in God’s Word. The Bible is a living document and God never forbids anything beyond setting the consequences for evil. Evil is anything opposed to Bible truth, and if we go there, God has made plain what will happen.
Does that make God unloving? Not at all. He is our Heavenly Father, and, just as earthly parents do, sets the rules, and if you break the rules, just like any earthly father, He will punish you. Does this Bible truth offend you? It shouldn’t. God’s punishment is to train you in righteousness to be worthy, and an earthly father’s punishment is to do the same, to teach right from wrong. Because if we know and practice doing right and not wrong, we are protected.
For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. Romans 13:3
Bible truths are a blueprint for life and whosoever follows it will live a good and godly life and enjoy the fruits of his labor and be welcomed into Heaven when his days are done. Those who do not will meet their judgment on the day that Jesus returns and separates the sheep from the goats.
“When he finally arrives, blazing in beauty and all his angels with him, the Son of Man will take his place on his glorious throne. Then all the nations will be arranged before him and he will sort the people out, much as a shepherd sorts out sheep and goats, putting sheep to his right and goats to his left.
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Enter, you who are blessed by my Father! Take what’s coming to you in this kingdom. It’s been ready for you since the world’s foundation. Matthew 25:31-36
“Then he will turn to the ‘goats,’ the ones on his left, and say, ‘Get out, worthless goats! You’re good for nothing but the fires of hell. Matthew 25:41-43
“Then those ‘goats’ will be herded to their eternal doom, but the ‘sheep’ to their eternal reward.” Matthew 25:46
God always works all things together for our good, even the bad things. If we trust Him with our lives and obey His Word we have nothing to fear.
